چکیده

Among the assumptions of the classical economic order quantity (EOQ) model is that all units that are purchased (or produced) are of perfect quality. However, this is frequently unrealistic since production processes deteriorate resulting in the production of defective products requiring rework. Some recent studies suggest that production systems performance might be improved by applying the first and second laws of thermodynamics to reduce system entropy (or disorder). This paper applies the concept of entropy cost to extend the classical EOQ model under the assumptions of perfect and imperfect quality. Mathematical models are developed and numerical examples illustrating the solution procedure are provided. Accounting for entropy cost suggests that order quantities should be larger than the figures derived from the classical EOQ

A cloudy fuzzy economic order quantity model for imperfect-quality items with allowable proportionate discounts

In the traditional economic order quantity/economic production quantity model, most of the items considered are of perfect type. But this situation rarely takes place in practice. Thus, in this paper, an economic order quantity model with imperfectquality items is developed. 100% screening process is performed, and the items of imperfect quality are sold as a single batch. A proportionate ra...

An integrated production-marketing planning model With Cubic production cost function and imperfect production process

The basic assumption in the traditional inventory model is that all outputs are perfect items. However, this assumption is too simplistic in the most real-life situations due to a natural phenomenon in a production process. From this it is deduced that the system produces non-perfects items which can be classified into four groups of perfect, imperfect, reworkable defective and non-reworkable d...

Entropic Economic Order Quantity Model for Items with Imperfect Quality Considering Constant Rate of Deterioration under Fuzzy Inflationary Conditions

It was suggested in 2004 by some researchers that it might be possible to improve production systems performance by applying the first and second laws of thermodynamics to reduce system entropy. Then these laws were used to modify the economic order quantity (EOQ) model to derive an equivalent entropic order quantity (EnOQ). Moreover the political instability or uncertainty of a country (as wel...

An Economic Production Quantity Model for Defective Items with Sales Return Service, Scrap Items and Rework

In this model, we establish an inventory model to determine the optimal inventory replenishment scheme for the economic production quantity (EPQ) model for imperfect, deteriorating items with sales return service under multiple production and rework setup. In one cycle, production process can produces the products in m production setups and reworks the defective items in one rework setup. The c...

An inventory model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with imperfect quality, delay in payments and time value money

In this paper, Economic Order Quantity ( ) based model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with imperfect quality, permissible delay in payments and inflation is proposed. We adopt a time-dependent demand function. Also, the effects of time value of money are studied using the Discounted Cash Flow approach. Moreover, we assume that orders may contain a random proportion of defective items...
